Main Menu - Preempts (MM->3-> preempt#)

The Naztec Version 50/60/61 software provides 10 preempts for rail preemption (see NTCIP section 2.7.1 MAXIMUM PREEMPTS). Preempts 1-6 are programmed as high priority preempts - RAIL or EMERG (emergency vehicle preemption).  Preempts 7-10 are programmed as transit (low) priority.

Access any of the sub-menus for the Preempt # 1 below by selecting 1 through 6:

 # 1      Preemption
 1.Times    4.Times+     7.Inh Control
 2.Phases   5.Overlaps+
 3.Options  6.Options+

Preempts 7-10 can be programmed as low-priority EVP or bus preemption.  Select preempt #7 from MM->3 to display the following menu. For more information on bus preemption, click here.

Low Priority and Bus Preemption Preempts 7-10 (MM->3-> 7)

The Naztec controller supports low-priority preemption by recognizing a 6.25Hz oscillating signal to distinguish used for low-priority preemption. Naztec provides 4 low-priority preemption inputs to complement the high-priority inputs 3 through 6 called for in TS-2. The control recognizes the oscillating signal as low-priority emergency vehicle preempt and a constant low signal as a transit vehicle preempt.

Enable

Each preempt must be enabled to activate the preempt.

Bus Phases

These are the phases programmed for low-priority or the dwell phases desired for the transit vehicle.

Min

If the priority phases are active when the preempt is applied, a Min time is used to guarantee a minimum period for the preempt.

Max

A Max time can be specified to terminate the priority phases after a specified period of time.

Max_Lockout

Max Lockout is a specified period of time that locks out another bus preempt call after the preempt returns.

Coor+Pre

The controller returns to the phases interrupted by the preempt if Coor+Pre is OFF. If Coor+Pre is ON, the controller returns to the phases in the current coordination plan running in the background.

This feature is available with all high and low-priority preempts to return to the coordinated phase without the need to transition. Many agencies prefer the Coor+Pre option, especially when coordination is interrupted frequently.
