Events and alarms are Naztec MIB's that log controller and detector status information in a buffer so the information can be uploaded to a closed loop master or StreetWise.   Alarms are polled frequently to provide immediate notification of alarm conditions, while events are typically polled less frequently to build an information database for historical logs.

Events and alarms refer to the same controller status condition.  They are  polled separately so alarm events can be polled more frequently.

If the "Local Txmt Alarms" parameter in menu item 7. is turned ON, the controller can initiate a dial-up connection to StreetWise to notify the system that an alarm has occured.  Therefore, it is important to turn this parameter OFF for most cases where the controller alarms and events are polled by a closed loop master or by StreetWise.
